  • What a Week….Sectionals Fast approaching!

If you haven’t checked the website in a while you haven’t missed much!  The team has been very busy in preparing for the upcoming Argyle Lake Sectional on Friday April 23, 2010.  The team also attended the Mike Bert Family fishing give away.   Click this link to visit the article posted about Mike. The team would like to thank Josh Wallace and the Bert Family for the generous donation of various tackle to the team.  Some Pictures of the event are posted below.

With the sectional fast approaching the team has been and will be on the water over the next week.

Last night Tuesday April 13, 2010 the team held a inter squad  tournament.  The tournament included four boats with six team members fishing and 4 coaches.

The pictures below show the results.   All team members caught fish, and the winning limit weight 20lb 3 ounces in Steve Paytash’s boat.  The second place team had 4 fish with a weight of 16lbs 4 ounces in Randy Gardners boat.  The other two boats Coach Prybil and Albrechts both had limits of five fish with weights in the 13lb plus range.

Last Saturday Coach Randy Gardner and myself (Coach Brian Prybil) were sorting out tackle that had been donated for the team.   Coach Gardner noticed about 5 rods that we had that needed to be cleaned up and paired with reels so team members could use them during the season.   Once cleaned up and paired with reels, the rod and reel setups where very high quality, as a matter of fact I could not believe my eyes how nice the rod and reel combos looked!   Brady Barlow a senior on the team hooked up with us on Sunday to water test the rods.  His words were WOW these are great rods for the team to use.  That day Coach Gardner and I both agreed we needed to drop by and show the rods to the guys who donated them to the team.   They were Don VanAcker and Steve Palmer, two local fisherman who are known and respected very highly through out the Quad City bass fishing community.   Well later on Sunday I received some very bad new from Steve Paytash that Steve Palmer was in the hospital Sunday.   Mr. Steve Palmer passed away on Monday afternoon March 29, 2010.  Steve also had plans to take some of our team members Devon Gamboe and Austin Paytash up north fishing on the Mississippi river this spring to help them learn the waters

Our team would like to extend our sympathies to the family and say thank you to Steve for his support for our team and his memory will live on through the young men and women who will learn the sport of bass fishing from his generous donations of tackle and equipment.

    Steve doing what he loved!
